Monday trip to Dancalan Beach

(09-21-2009) The Bonk Team again chose Dancalan beach in Bulusan to be their destination point for this joy ride. Headed by our team leader Bagyo, the group went fast early on after departing from our rendezvous, the Kikiaman Tambayan. After almost one hour of pedaling, fun racing and chatting, we reached the town of Irosin and we immediately tasted the delicious "goto" to satisfy our cravings for it (the group's passion for eating is just the same passion they have for cycling!). After the "energy-intake" we proceeded to climb the undulating 9 kilometers uphill road going to Brgy.San Roque but was slowed down several times due to a series of flat tires. It was a common sight to see the group gasp for air and have the ready-to-give-up-but-still-trying-hard-not-to-be-left-out-by-others fainting-like look over their faces. Self-punishment can be most of the time enjoyable and satisfying when cycling. Mountain bikers can attest to that. We then battled the 6 kilometer rocky and bumpy descent leading to the town of Bulusan, and we were rewarded by the beautiful scenery offered by our favorite destination point. Dancalan beach is only 2 kilometers away from the poblacion of Bulusan, and there we took some rest, and some, unable to resist the clearness and coolness of the beach, tasted it's relaxing and soothing liquid. Our lunch was superb, as we were treated by one of the Kapitan del Barrios by a grilled large "sungayan" fish and a native chicken curry. The food "disappeared immediately!  The twelve of us were really hungry! It was such a nice day even after suffering again on the steep climbs going home. ..(Bagyo, Chito, Runel, Tyrone, Rey, Jade, Rey, Ruel, Raymond, Hipos, Marlon, Bodis).
